New Year’s Resolutions – 5 Tips
Is 2015 gonna be your year? Below are my five tips success with your health and fitness New Year’s Resolutions.
1. Set Specific Goals
“I want to be healthy.” is too broad. Your goal should be quantifiable so that you have a measure to track your success. If your goal is to be healthy decide what “healthy” means to you. If healthy is not eating a donut for breakfast every morning, then that is your goal. If healthy is working out before work 5 days a week, then that is your goal. Make them specific and have a way to track your success or failure.
2. Set Realistic Goals
Your goals should be realistic. If you have 100 pounds that you want to lose it’s not realistic to be able to do that in 2 months. Consider a realistic time frame and go from there.
3. Set Yourself Up for Success
If you plan to include running 2 miles a day as one of your goals, make sure that you have proper shoes for running. If your goal is to not eat junk food at night, make sure you clean out your pantry of the temptations.
4. Get Support
Telling your friends and family will give you an extra layer of accountability. Also, having a coach or trainer will also help you stick to your plan.
5. Give Yourself a Break
No one is perfect and there will be slip ups, but you will not give up. Put it in your head that you WILL NOT give up! “Failure is a bruise, not a tattoo.” ~ Jon Sinclair
