Busy Moms: Holiday Survival Tips
HOLIDAY SURVIVAL TIPS
Everyone is going to holiday parties, right? Too busy to prep your healthy meals? Too busy to fit in your workout? See below for my top holiday survival tips for sticking to your fitness goals through the holidays!
- Drink a ton of water. This should be mostly in the form of plain water, but herbal hot or regular tea is okay too.
- Stick to your exercise routine. Schedule your workouts and keep your own appointments to yourself! It’s easy to let this slide, but it’s more important now than ever. It will keep the extra holiday calories from taking over and it will lower your stress levels.
- Eat a taste of everything that you want, but only eat more than a taste of the things that you really LOVE. The key is moderation.
- Don’t EVER go to a holiday party hungry. You will not be able to control yourself.
- When filling your plate, fill most of the plate with healthy/healthier items. Then add the other less healthy.
- This one gets me every time…..turn off the cooking shows. I always start to feel hungry when I see all those yummy foods being made so beautifully by the chefs!
- Chew gum. It’s easier to keep food out of your mouth if there’s a piece of gum in there.
- Last tip, Give yourself a break. This is a break from the guilt. We are human. Holidays are fun. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you slip up. Just acknowledge and don’t do it again.
