Busy Moms – Find Your Soul Mate Workout
Hey Busy Moms! The fact is that we are all so busy that there are a million and one excuses as to why we can’t get in shape and feel great, right? My kids need me. My husband needs me. My family needs dinner on the table. I have to get the kids to their activities. I have to get to the grocery store, Target, Costco. The number of things pulling on us each day is overwhelming. And the truth is, we all have the same amount of hours in the day….so, what to do? How do we fit time in to focus on us?
Here’s what I have found. We need to keep up with our health and fitness because, a) we are better wives, mommies, daughters, or friends when we feel good physically (energy, less aches and pains, stronger), b) we are better at all of the above when we feel good about the way we look (let’s rock those tank tops and shorts this summer), and we are better at all the above when we feel good mentally (centered and clear headed).
The problem comes in when the excuses get in the way of or are bigger than us feeling these things. We all know this. It’s not rocket science. But in order to motivate you to make time for you and not let the excuses get in the way, you need a strategy. What would help you make the time? How about finding a workout that you love, instead of something that you dread.
I will call this your SOUL MATE workout. (So I call it this because that’s what one of my favorite trainers, Chalene Johnson, calls it.) Your soul mate workout is the type of exercise you love doing – biking, hiking, running, lifting weights, dancing, videos, etc.
So your strategy is to figure out what your soul mate workout is and then make a little time. You can start out a few times a week and go from there. But the key is to want to do it and to enjoy it. Then you keep wanting to do it!
Being a Coach has allowed me to try out almost all of our Team Beachbody workouts. The first one I tried was ChaLean Extreme (before I was a coach) and fell in love with the program, my new found level of fitness through strength training and Chalene Johnson. She is incredibly motivating, fun, energetic and inspiring. Then she came out with TurboFire. Doing that next was a no-brainer. It’s a fun, danc-y, calorie scorching cardio program with awesome music! This month (May 2014) you can get the TurboFire Challenge Pack at an amazing deal. I have now completed most of the programs in our library (also love INSANITY and T25). And I am super excited for the next new program, PiYo, coming out in June. So excited that I got my PiYo Instructor Certification (I also have INSANITY Instructor Cert).
So I guess I would say that my soul mate workouts are anything Chalene Johnson creates and INSANITY/T25!!! It’s good to have variety, right? 😉
